Hurghada
Having only been developed into a tourist resort over the last ten years, Hurghada has so far managed to retain much of its traditional culture and atmosphere.
Offering some of the best diving sites in the world, divers and watersports enthusiasts flock to this region year on year, attracted by either the expensive, high class hotels or the cheaper package holidays.
A bustling resort, Hurghada’s main tourist thoroughfare, El Sakala, is jam packed with cafes, bistros, restaurants and shops.
There is a modern promenade along the impressive marina, with expensive yachts moored alongside traditional fishermen’s cottages.
The handful of islands situated just off the coastline attract many tourists on day trips and sightseeing excursions.
In peak tourist season, Hurghada is renowned for its beach parties, which, although relatively noisy, are usually suitable for holidaymakers of all ages.
Nearby, the region of El Gouna is somewhat quieter, with just a handful of exclusive hotels situated along miles of beach, populated principally by well-heeled individuals and families. Although more peaceful it does, nevertheless, have a good selection of venues offering entertainment and good food.
