Situated between the Gulf of Mexico and The Pacific Ocean, Mexico lies to the south of the United States. Tourists enjoy mixing lazy beach holidays with visiting the colourful town and cities, bustling with life.

Undoubtedly one of the main tourist destinations, Cancun is also known as the “Mexican Caribbean”. A wonderful city lying directly on the coast, it gives tourists the best of both worlds, offering some great beaches and watersports, as well as vast shopping centres and theme parks.

Close by is the Riviera Maya, which has a number of large, all-inclusive holiday resorts. Many tourists visit this region for the wide variety of watersports available, including scuba diving and, perhaps more uniquely, swimming with dolphins. The Belize Barrier Reef stretches along the entire waterline along this region, being the second longest reef in the world.

Particularly popular with Europeans, Playa del Carmen, originally a small fishing town and still retaining much of its individual character, lies in the centre of the Riviera Maya. Quieter than Cancun but with the same beautiful beaches and calm waters, it is renowned for its excellent salt water scuba diving facilities. Its famous pedestrianised street, Quinta Avenida, is full of boutique hotels, restaurants and bars, offering either a lively or relaxing holiday, depending on your own individual needs.
