Turkish Resorts Antalya, Marmaris, Icemeler Bodrum, Side, Olu Deniz

Surrounded by the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea, Turkey is a country of contrasts. From the beautiful sandy beaches along the Aegean coast to the colourful, bustling city of Istanbul, it offers something for everyone.

The warmest areas to visit tend to be around the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean coastlines, with summer temperatures often reaching around 30°C.

A firm favourite for family holidays and couples alike, there is always plenty to do and see. Turkey has a wealth of history, so at least one or two sight-seeing trips to Ephesus or one of its tiny villages or superb amphitheatres are an absolute must. Side, an ancient Greek city, was once occupied by Alexander the Great, and much still remains of the original buildings, making this one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions.

But of course, it’s not all peace and quiet! If you’re looking for something a little more lively, there are a whole host of shops, restaurants and bars in resorts such as Bodrum, which is more targeted towards tourism. Locals are very friendly, with English being widely spoken. The city of Antalya in particular, is extremely colourful and offers a wide variety of entertainment, whilst still retaining much of its history.

As a country for watersports facilties, Turkey doesn’t disappoint. Many coastal resorts, including the area around Icmeler, provide activities including scuba diving and jet skiing, whilst Marmaris and Oludeniz are firm favourites for those who enjoy sailing – or simply lazing about on the beach.

Tourist resorts and accommodation will inevitably cater for any taste, but you will also find traditional restaurants and cafes which serve typically Turkish fare including kebabs, flatbread, mezes and baklava.

With only around a four hour flight time, many Brits take advantage each year of the late deals and cheap holidays available in Turkey. Transport yourself from a rain-soaked Britain to a sunny beach in this beautiful part of the world.
