Holidays in Egypt are almost always guaranteed to be filled with glorious sunshine, awe-inspiring views and endless entertainment.

One of the Seven Underwater Wonders of the World, the Red Sea boasts beautiful, calm blue waters and exotic marine life, attracting a wide variety of tourists and divers in particular, who class this region as one of the best in the world for exploring underwater. Turtles, dolphins, sharks and butterfly fish swim leisurely around the many coral reefs, clearly visible in the clear waters.

The backdrop here is certainly superb, with many resorts able to view either the Red Sea itself, or desert, stretching as far as the eye can see, and the red-tinted mountain range.

Amidst all this natural splendour, there are larger resorts which offer a great variety of entertainment and facilities – Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada in particular having a whole host of shops, bars and restaurants. However, many hotels offering all-inclusive holiday accommodation in Egypt will have their own entertainment programme.

Traditional Egyptian food makes the most of locally grown produce, using crops and vegetables. Flat breads are used extensively, with garlic and onion featuring heavily in many dishes. Spices are used throughout the region in both savoury and pudding dishes; and those with a sweet tooth will be in seventh heaven with the region’s own unique range of crepes, doughnuts, cakes and pastries.
