Balearics

The five islands which make up the Balearics – Majorca, Mincorca, Cabrera, Ibiza and Formentera, could not be more different, which is what makes this beautiful region of the world so enticing to tourists.

Formentera is the smallest of the islands and although it does have its own tourist trade, mass market tourism has yet to hit, partially due to the transport arrangements, which means that any visitors must take a ferry from Ibiza. Similarly, Cabrera is a National Park and almost uninhabited.

The remaining islands in the Balearics however, are each beautiful in their own right, attracting thousands of holidaymakers each year.

From its long sandy coastline and mountainous regions to the cosmopolitan city of Palma, Majorca is one of the larger and busier islands. Catering for tourists of all kinds, it is especially geared however, towards families, with many resorts offering all-inclusive packages and entertainment.

Ibiza on the other hand, is an island of two halves. On one side is the bustling tourist resorts and infamous nightlife whilst on the other, the beautiful scenery, luxurious marinas and celebrities enjoy all that the island has to offer. There are an abundance of cheap holidays and last minute deals to be had to Ibiza.

Located just 21 miles from its larger and busier neighbour, Majorca, Menorca has more than its fair share of stunning beaches and peaceful, family-oriented holiday resorts. Far less developed than the other two islands, it has managed to retain to some extent its true image as being home to a number of very pretty fishing villages.
